Capitec Bank Holdings Limited (CPI: JSE) is a commercial bank based in Stellenbosch, a town in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Capitec is a South African retail bank that serves individuals and businesses, but does not provide business banking for corporations, companies, partnerships or trusts. It focuses on effective system-driven solutions and centralised control as well as minimizes administration and costs for clients. With approximately 13,500 employees, the Bank serves 9.2 million customers through a network of over 800 branches, 1,775 own ATMs and 2,500 ATMs belonging to other banks. The company was founded in 2001 and was listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in 2002. As of August 31, 2017, Capitec Bank had total assets of R81.136 billion (US$6.2 billion), deposits and bonds of R62.4 billion and gross loans of R46.544 billion.
