Banco Central de Chile (BCCh), established in August 1925 by Decree Law 486, is the central bank of Chile. BCCh's objective is to ensure stability of both the currency and the normal operations of domestic and foreign payments.
Banco de Chile – The largest Chilean bank in terms of current accounts and shareholders' equity and the second largest bank in terms of loans. As of January 5, 2018, it had a market capitalization of US$16 billion.
BancoEstado – The second largest bank in Chile with assets of over US$52 billion. It is the highest rated bank in Latin America and one of the highest rated banks globally.
Banco Santander Chile – The largest bank in Chile by assets and deposits. It operates over 400 branches in every major region of Chile. The company employs about 11,200 people and serves more than 2.4 million customers.
BBVA Chile – A part of Spanish financial group BBVA and one of the ten largest banks in Chile with total assets of more than US$20 billion.
Banco de Crédito e Inversiones (Bci) – The third largest private bank in terms of loans and the fourth largest bank by number of customers, with one of the largest national distribution channels.
Banco BTG Pactual Chile – A subsidiary of Brazilian Banco BTG Pactual S.A. As of March 2017, it had total assets of CLP 219.2 billion.
Banco de la Nación Argentina (Chile) – A subsidiary of Banco de la Nacion Argentina S.A.
Banco do Brasil (Chile) – A subsidiary of Banco do Brasil S.A.
Banco Ripley – Chilean retail bank established in 2002. It mainly provides loans to middle-income people in Chile. It also offers credit cards, deposits, insurance and telephone banking services. Banco Ripley operates as a subsidiary of Ripley S.A., one of the largest retailers in Chile and Peru.
Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi (Chile) – A member of the Japanese The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ. As of June 2017, the company had total assets of approximately CLP 150 billion.
China Construction Bank, Agencia En Chile offers commercial banking services in Chile. As of June 30, 2017, it had assets of over CLP 260 billion.
Deutsche Bank (Chile) provides commercial banking products and services.
JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A. (Chile) – A subsidiary of US-based JPMorgan Chase Bank. It offers investment banking, private banking and treasury services.
Itau Corpbanca – One of the largest private banks in Chile. It provides a broad array of financial services to personal and business customers through over 200 branches and 500 ATMs nationwide.
HSBC Bank (Chile) has been present in the country since 1981. It focuses on corporate banking and global treasury. As of March 2017, it had total assets of over US$2 billion.
PreviRed – A private company owned by the Chilean pension funds. It supports the payment of social security contributions through the Internet.
Scotiabank Chile – The seventh largest bank in the country. It offers a broad range of corporate, commercial and retail banking services through a nationwide network of over 100 branches.
ABN AMRO Bank (Chile) was a subsidiary of Netherlands-based ABN AMRO Group.
Banco Paris was a banking unit of the Cencosud Holding. It was liquidated in 2016.
Banco Penta was a bank specialized in investments and savings. It was dissolved in February 2017.
