Banco Central do Brasil

Banco Central do Brasil (or Central Bank of Brazil), founded on December 31, 1964, is an autonomous federal institution and part of the National Financial System (SFN). The Bank is the principal monetary authority of the country. Before Brazil's Central Bank was established, the Brazilian monetary authorities were Bank of Brazil, Currency and Credit Superintendence, and the National Treasury. As of April 30, 2017, Banco Central do Brasil had total assets of BRL 3.051 trillion.
