Itaú Unibanco Holding S.A. (NYSE: ITUB, BM&F Bovespa: ITUB3, ITUB4) is the largest private sector bank in Brazil. It is also the largest financial conglomerate in Latin America and one of the 30 largest banks in the world by market value (US$70 billion, June 2017). With about 95,000 employees, it provides a wide array of financial products and services to both individuals and companies of all sizes, from major transnational groups to micro-entrepreneurs as well as to governmental bodies, institutional investors and high net worth individuals. The company offers current and savings accounts, personal and commercial loans, credit cards, insurance products, annuities, private pension plans, international trade services, private banking, asset management, online and mobile banking, brokerage and other services. Itaú Unibanco operates a network of over 5,000 full service branches and CSBs (Client Service Branches) and over 46,400 ATMs (Including ESBs and Banco24Horas ATMs) in Brazil and abroad. The CSBs represent a low cost alternative to opening full service branches. Itaú Unibanco has a presence in 18 countries including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, Mexico, France, Germany, Portugal, United Kingdom, Spain, Switzerland, the U.S., the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, Dubai, China and Japan. In Brazil, the company serves retail clients through the Itaú Unibanco S.A. and wholesale clients through Banco Itaú BBA S.A. It was named Best Investment Bank in Brazil and Best Investment Bank in Latin America by Global Finance magazine. Itaú Asset Management is the largest private asset manager in Brazil with market share of 16%. The main competitors are Banco do Brasil and Banco Bradesco. The company was formed through the merger of Banco Itaú (est. 1945) and Unibanco (est. September 27, 1924), which occurred in 2008. In 2012, Itaú Unibanco sold its interest of 18.9% in Banco Português de Investimento to the La Caixa group. In 2015, the company announced the merger of Itaú Chile with Corpbanca, forming in April 2016, Itaú Corpbanca. As of March 31, 2017, Itaú Unibanco Holding had total assets of BRL 1.324 trillion (US$418 billion), and stockholders’ equity of BRL 134.2 billion.
