Bank of Montreal (also known as BMO Financial Group) (TSX: BMO, NYSE: BMO), established on November 3, 1817, is the oldest bank in Canada. It provides a wide range of financial products and services including retail, corporate and investment banking. It offers bank accounts, credit cards, personal and home equity loans, car loans, small business loans, lines of credit, investments, financial planning, mortgages, travel services, wealth management, cash management as well as market risk management, foreign exchange, trade finance, treasury management, corporate lending, securitization, public and private debt and equity underwriting, advisory and insurance services.With more than 45,000 employees, it serves approximately 12 million customers through a network of over 1,500 branches and 4,600 ATMs in Canada, the U.S. and other countries. It is the second largest Canadian bank by retail branches in Canada and the United States. The company has strong presence in the United States (particularly in Chicago) where it operates as BMO Harris Bank and serves more than 3 million customers through around 600 branches and 1,400 ATMs in Illinois, Arizona, Missouri, Minnesota, Indiana, Kansas, Florida, and Wisconsin. In 2009, Bank of Montreal purchased the Diners Club North American franchise from Citibank. The deal gives BMO exclusive rights to issue Diners Club cards to corporate and professional clients in the U.S. and Canada. In 2011, BMO acquired of Milwaukee-based Marshall & Ilsley Corporation (M&I). In May 2014, BMO completed the acquisition of F&C Asset Management plc, a diversified UK-based investment manager with a strong brand and almost 150-year history. BMO's operational headquarters is located in Toronto, while its legal head office is based in Montreal. As of April 30, 2017, BMO Financial Group had total assets of C$718.9 billion, deposits of C$488.2 billion and loans of C$368 billion.
