Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) (Banque de Développement du Canada) is a financial institution owned by the Government of Canada. The company focuses on SMEs and provides lending products and advisory services to help Canadian businesses grow. BDC Capital division offers a wide range of specialized financing including venture capital, growth and transition capital as well as minority equity investments. BDC Advantage unit provides a full range of non-financial services to entrepreneurs. The Business Development Bank of Canada is the only bank exclusively dedicated to entrepreneurs. With 2,200 employees, it serves about 50,000 SMEs through 118 business centers from coast to coast. BDC also supports an additional 7,000 clients through securitization services. The company was established in 1944 as an arm of Bank of Canada and is headquartered in Montreal, Quebec. For the second quarter 2018 (ended September 30, 2017), BDC reported total assets of C$26.627 billion and loans and investments of C$25.717 billion.
