First Nations Bank of Canada (FNBC) focuses on providing financial services to the Aboriginal market in Canada. With over 12,000 customer accounts, it provides a full range of banking products and services to aboriginal and non-aboriginal customers. It offers chequing and savings accounts, U.S. dollar accounts (U.S. Borderless and U.S. Daily Interest), personal and car loans, mortgages, credit cards, lines of credit, overdraft protection, redeemable and non redeemable term deposits, cash management, small business and commercial credit products, online and phone banking and other services. It also specializes in working with aboriginal governments, and provides services to remote communities. FNBC is more than 80% controlled by Aboriginal shareholders from Saskatchewan, Alberta, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Manitoba, and Quebec. In 2012, it launched its own banking platform and became operationally fully independent of TD Canada Trust. FNBC is a member of Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC), Canadian Payments Association and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. First Nations Bank of Canada was established in 1996 and is headquartered in Saskatoon. It has over 10 branches and community banking centres in four provinces and two territories. In October 2014, it opened a new branch in Yellowknife. In August 2015, it opened first full service community banking centre in Kugluktuk, Nunavut. As of May 31, 2017, the company had total assets of C$468 million.
