Manulife Bank of Canada (Banque Manuvie) is a Schedule l federally chartered bank. It operates as a subsidiary of The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company, a leading financial services group with operations in Canada, the United States and Asia. Manulife Bank is the first federally regulated bank opened by an insurance company in Canada. It provides a wide range of financial products and services to retail and business customers. The Bank doesn’t have physical branches and distributes its products through independent financial advisors as well as via internet and by phone. It offers deposit accounts, investment loans, RRSP loans, lines of credit, specialized lending, residential and commercial mortgages, MBNA Rewards MasterCard credit cards, guaranteed investment certificates (GICs) as well as professional advice and phone, mobile and online banking. Manulife Trust Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Manulife Bank, offers select deposit products in nominee name and preferred rate mortgages across Canada. Manulife Bank was established in 1993 and is headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario. It is a member of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation. As at May 31, 2017, the company had C$23.4 billion in total assets.
