BBVA Chile (Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria Chile S.A.) (SGO: BBVACL) is the sixth largest bank in Chile in terms of total assets. It operates as a subsidiary of Spanish banking group BBVA. With approximately 2,200 employees, BBVA Chile provides a wide range of financial products and services to corporate and retail customers. It offers current and savings accounts, personal and business loans, credit cards, mortgages, investments, life and home insurance, personal accident insurance, unemployment insurance as well as foreign trade, cash management, financial advisory services, leasing, factoring, online banking and other services. The Bank owns such subsidiaries as BBVA Corredores de Bolsa Limitada (securities brokerage), BBVA Administradora General de Fondos (asset management), BBVA Corredora Técnica de Seguros, BBVA Asesorias Financieras SA, BBVA Sociedad de Leasing Inmobiliario SA and BBVA Factoring. BBVA Group started its operations in Chile in 1998 through Banco BHIF S.A. (Banco Hipotecario Internacional Financiero). The origin of the bank goes back to 1883, when Banco Hipotecario in Valparaíso was created. As of March 31, 2017, BBVA Chile had CLP 14.272 trillion (US$23 billion) in total assets and CLP 9.4 trillion (US$15 billion) in loans.
