Erste Group Bank AG, established in 1819, is one of the largest financial institutions in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) with approximately 23.2 million customers in Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Croatia and Serbia. At June 30, 2026, the group had 55,231 employees (full-time equivalents) and 2,065 branches. Poland became the group's eighth core market on January 9, 2026, when Erste Group completed the acquisition of a 49% controlling stake in Santander Bank Polska, together with 50% of the asset management company Santander TFI, for a total purchase price of about EUR 7 billion; the Polish bank, the third largest in the country, serves some 6.2 million customers and was renamed Erste Bank Polska in 2026. It also has foreign branch offices in Hong Kong, New York and London. The company provides a wide range of retail, corporate and private banking services. It is one of the leading corporate banks and one of the leading providers of quality securities services in Central and Eastern Europe. Erste Group is the number one asset manager in CEE with assets under management of over EUR 57 billion. As of June 30, 2026, the Group had total assets of EUR 461.137 billion, customer loans of EUR 282.704 billion and customer deposits of EUR 323.653 billion.
