Dresdner Bank AG was a commercial bank based in Frankfurt am Main, with operations in Europe, North and Latin America, and the Asia/Pacific region. It was one of largest financial institutions in Germany with more than 6.3 million customers and a network of approximately 1,070 branches, of which over 900 branches were in Germany. Until January 2009, Dresdner Bank operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of insurer Allianz SE. In August 2008, Allianz and Commerzbank reached an agreement regarding the take over of Dresdner Bank by Commerzbank AG.
