Bilbao Bizkaia Kutxa (BBK) was a Spanish savings bank located in the province of Biscay in the Basque Country. It was the ninth-largest savings bank in Spain based on consolidated assets. It operated through a network of more than 790 branches, 590 of which were located outside the province of Biscay. BBK is the entity resulting from the merger between Caja de Ahorros Municipal de Bilbao and Caja de Ahorros Vizcaína, which was formalised in 1990. As of December 31, 2011, Bilbao Bizkaia Kutxa had EUR 28.888 billion in total assets.
In 2012, BBK merged with other Basque savings banks, namely Kutxa (Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad de Gipuzkoa y San Sebastián) and Caja Vital (Caja de Ahorros de Vitoria y Álava), to form Kutxabank S.A. As of June 30, 2014, Kutxabank had assets of EUR 61.588 billion.
