Vontobel Holding AG (Vontobel Group) is an internationally-oriented Swiss private bank established in Zurich in 1924. It specializes in wealth management and investment banking for private and institutional clients. The Group employs some 1,500 people in 22 international locations including Austria, Germany, Spain, the UK, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and the United States. In 2009, Vontobel acquired 100% of Commerzbank (Schweiz) AG. As a result, the volume of assets managed by the Vontobel's Private Banking business increased by 20%. The company has three business units: Private Banking, Investment Banking and Asset Management. The Private Banking division offers a wide range of products and services from portfolio management and investment advisory to inheritance planning. It has operations in Zurich, Basel, Berne, Geneva, Lucerne, Vaduz, Salzburg, Vienna, Munich, Hamburg, Milan and Hong Kong. At the end of June 2015, Vontobel Private Banking reported assets under management of CHF 31.8 billion. Institutional clients accounted for CHF 92 billion of assets under management. The Investment Banking division focuses on the derivatives and structured products, brokerage and corporate finance services. Investment Banking is one of the leading issuers of derivatives and structured products in Switzerland and Europe. It also provides services for external asset managers. It operates in Zurich, Geneva, Cologne, Frankfurt, Dubai, Singapore, London and New York. The Asset Management unit specializes in active asset management and is positioned as a multi-boutique provider. Its products are distributed through wholesale channels and directly to institutional clients. The Vontobel family and Vontobel Foundation hold the majority of shares in the company. Vontobel is among the first private banks in Switzerland to complement its advisory services with mobile private banking. In May 2015, Vontobel acquired a 60 percent stake in TwentyFour Asset Management LLP, a London-based fixed income specialist with £4.5 billion in client assets. As of June 30, 2016, Vontobel Group had total assets of CHF 18.4 billion, loans of CHF 2.4 billion, assets under management of CHF 127.8 billion and total client assets of CHF 179.3 billion (US$183 billion). The company's market cap is CHF 3.5 billion (June 8, 2017).
