Citibank Greece is one the largest card issuers in Greece and one of the first to introduce investment products to the Greek market. In June 2014, Citibank sold its retail banking business in Greece (including Diners Club of Greece SA Credit Card Unit) to Alpha Bank, the fourth-largest lender by assets in Greece. The acquired operations include Citi’s wealth management unit with assets under management of EUR 2.1 billion as well as a retail branch network of 20 units which serves 480,000 customers. More than 720 employees working for Citi’s retail operations were transferred to Alpha Bank. Citi continues to provide banking services to businesses, financial institutions and public sector.
