Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C) is one of the world's largest financial services companies with approximately 226,000 employees in over 90 countries at December 31, 2025. Citigroup is organized into five reportable business segments: Services, Markets, Banking, Wealth and U.S. Consumer Cards (USCC), with the remaining operations recorded in All Other, a structure effective January 1, 2026. The Global Consumer Banking (GCB) and Institutional Clients Group (ICG) segments are no longer reported: GCB was superseded by an earlier reorganization and Citi eliminated the ICG layer in the fourth quarter of 2023. GCB had operated approximately 720 retail branches in North America, 1,500 retail branches in Latin America (including Banamex) and 432 branches in Asia. The company provides a full range of financial products and services to consumers, corporations, governments and institutions. It offers savings and checking accounts, individual retirement accounts (IRAs), personal and student loans, mortgages, home equity and commercial real estate loans, credit and debit cards, online and mobile banking, cash management, transaction and trade services, securities and fund services, wealth management, private banking, insurance products, annuities and other services. Citi is the world’s largest credit card issuer with approximately 140 million accounts and $420 billion in annual purchase sales. Citigroup was formed from one of the world's largest mergers in history by combining the Citicorp and Travelers Group in 1998. As of June 30, 2026, the company had total assets of $2.895 trillion and deposits of $1.493 trillion.

Citigroup has largely completed its exits from the 14 international consumer markets identified as part of its strategic refresh, including the sale or wind-down of its Asia consumer banking businesses. It sold AO Citibank, its remaining Russian operations, to Renaissance Capital on February 18, 2026 and its Polish consumer banking business on June 12, 2026. Its Mexican subsidiary Grupo Financiero Banamex is being divested in stages ahead of a proposed public offering. Citigroup sold a 25% stake on December 15, 2025 and a further 22.6% on April 29, 2026, retaining about 52% of the shares; the remaining 1.4% of a 24% investor commitment is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.
